Free lawn care software: what's actually free

If you mow, edge and blow for a living and don't want another monthly bill yet, here is every lawn care app we track that publishes a $0 plan, what that plan actually covers, and what the first paid step costs. Most lawn care apps we track offer a 14-day trial or a demo instead; only one lawn-specific quoting and invoicing app publishes a plan that stays at $0.

All 7 tools compared here publish prices; ServiceM8 has the lowest flat monthly entry price, $29/mo on its Starter plan, and Yardbook, ServiceM8 and Connecteam list a $0 plan.

Lawn care apps with a real free plan

ToolFree planWhat you getSource
YardbookStarter: $0Built for lawn and landscaping. Listed features: Customer management, jobs & scheduling, estimates, invoices, routing, expenses, reports, lot measurement, employee access, credit card payments, snow removal, product catalog. No user, crew or customer limits are published.source
ServiceM8Free: $01 user and 30 jobs a month. A general field service app, not lawn-specific.source
ConnecteamSmall Business: $0Up to 10 users. A crew app (scheduling, time clock), not a quoting and invoicing app.source

Yardbook is the only lawn-specific option on the list. Its free Starter plan lists estimates, invoices, scheduling, routing and card payments. Two cautions from its pricing page: Yardbook shows its prices per month but does not say whether they require annual billing or what month-to-month costs. Yardbook does not publish user, crew or customer limits for any plan. The paid Business plan ($34.99/mo) adds automatic invoice reminders, bulk text and email, GPS tracking and waives Yardbook's processing fee; Enterprise ($49.99/mo) adds QuickBooks sync.

ServiceM8's free plan works for a one-person operation that runs fewer than 30 jobs a month. At one visit per job, 30 jobs is about seven lawns mowed weekly, so most full-time solo mowers would outgrow it and land on Starter ($29/mo, 50 jobs). Connecteam is free for up to 10 users but handles crew scheduling and time tracking, not quotes and invoices, so it runs alongside one of the other apps.

Cheapest paid step up

When you outgrow a free plan, these are the lowest published entry prices among the lawn care apps we track, monthly list price unless noted.

Solo, on annual billing, QuoteIQ Essentials works out to $25/mo and Jobber Core to $29/mo. Paying month to month, ServiceM8 Starter ($29) and QuoteIQ Essentials ($29.99) are the cheapest, but ServiceM8 caps jobs. For a crew, see what each costs at 3, 5 and 10 people in the lawn care hub.
