Privacy and cookies

The short version
TrueToolCost is a static website. We don't run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, we don't set cookies of our own, and we don't ask for an account. Our fonts and scripts are served from our own domain.
What this site stores in your browser
Two small settings are kept in your browser's local storage (not cookies). They never leave your device and we can't read them:
ttc-compare: the tools you ticked to compare in the home-page tracker, so your picks survive a page reload.ttc_sbar_dismissed: remembers that you closed the "Price changes by email" bar on mobile, so it stays closed.
You can clear both any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. When we checked on 2026-10-17, the site set no cookies in normal browsing. Cloudflare's security features can set their own cookies if a visit needs a bot check; they are listed in Cloudflare's cookie documentation.
Price Watch signups (beehiiv)
Our signup forms send the email address you type, plus labels that say which form you used (for example "price alert" and the tool name), to our newsletter provider, beehiiv, where you confirm the subscription. beehiiv's pages may set their own cookies, under beehiiv's privacy policy. We use your email only to send Price Watch; every email has an unsubscribe link.
Vendor and affiliate links
We link to vendors' websites and pricing pages. Some of those links are affiliate links, marked rel="sponsored" (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click an affiliate link, the vendor or its affiliate network may set cookies on its own site to record that you came from TrueToolCost, so we can be paid a commission if you buy. Those cookies are set by the partner, not by us, and are covered by that partner's privacy policy. Plain vendor links can also lead to sites that set their own cookies.
